LBI has been my 2nd favorite place in the world.Every summer i go
to LBI. I wish school will fly by so i could go back to LBI.I love Fanasy
Island,the beach,the homes it is really great! Every summer my friends
and i roller blade along the side walks.We go in August,and i can't wait
to get to LBI.Ihave been going there since i was 1. and now i am 9.We only
spent 1 week down in LBI out of 52 weeks. i wish we stayed there 26 weeks.LBI
is a fun place you can go crabbing,fishing,Fanasy Island,the beach and
many more!! Sometimes I go in March to celebrate my mom's birthday. I love

I have been to Maui, I have been to Florida, I have been to Ocean
City MD, and let me tell you ....there is no place like LBI. If I had to,
I would choose LBI over any of the above places each time I went on vacation.
I have been going there before I was born (mom was carrying me) and have
been going ever since. I am 25 now, and always go down there with family
each summer for a week or two. It becomes our unofficial family reunion.
Everyone who reads this is invited to my house to stop in and say hello
(maybe have a drink with the fam) from July 22nd 2000, to August 5th 2000
on 15th street in Barnegat Light. It is the second house from the beach
on the right. (big white house) I feel people who share this island are
family and we should all get to know each other. We are the ones that keep

*~LBI is really awesome!! My friends and I come down every year
and have a great time! The beaches are great, there's lots of stuff to
do, and there are tons of hotties there. For people who haven't been or
are going to go there this summer, you should have a wonderful time. You
can rent boats, go to the beach & bay, ride bikes, visit Barnegat Light,
there's so much to do. I like LBI at night the best! The whole island is
one big party! The only bad thing that's ever happened there is that one
time my friends bike and my bike got stolen. That sucked and we had to
buy new ones. But other than that, the place is the best! Have fun everyone

are lots of good restaurants in beach haven and we do take out alot to
avoid crowds!! this allows for more time on the beach..nothing better than
the beach early in the morning and late afternoon and early evening!!!
special times on a special island..always treasure the time spent there!!try
a visit during march..there are things to do ..no crowds..the beach is

of the net seeing what I could find about LBI and ran across your publication.
I was born in Shipbottom on April 8, 1930 in a little house located at
108 E. 21 st Street, Beach Arlington, Shipbottom. I visted 15 years ago
and the little house was still there. I am planning to visit again sometime
in May 2000. On Julu 5, 1931, the Volunteer Fire Company of Shipbottom,
Beach Arlington sponsored a baby parade and I won 1st prize for the most
original. I was asleep in my coach with only a diaper and the Fire Chief's
hat resting on my head. I still have the silver cup on display here in
my home in Honolulu. My mother passed on to me a very interesting book
called " The Lure of Long Beach" by Walter E, Edge of Ventnor New Jersey,
June 6, 1936. Maybe one of the libraries or museums on LBI may have a copy.
It has lots of information and pictures of LBI from the tun ot the century
to the early 1930's. I am enjoying you publication and will read it in

Hey everyone! I love your site! My grandparents have a house in Beach
Haven Terrace and I've been going there every summer since I was born (I'm
14 now). LBI is SO AWESOME!! I bring my friends down with me each time
we come down. I've been having my b-day parties down there for the past
4 years. LBI has brought my friends and I so many good times and inside
jokes to talk about during the school year!! We have TONS of fun at Bay
Village! It's actually pretty funny, my friends and I come down more than
my grandparents do! I bet I'll still be coming down to LBI when I'm old

lbi is a great place, and it would be better if the "summer cops" weren't
so oppressive. a friend of mine was harrassed by a cop in brant beach for
"abandoning" his car the car was on, lights were on, he was standing AT
the door of the car, when three patrol cars came flying around the corner
and trapped him between his car and the door. He filed a complaint, but,
go figure, cops look out for each other and nothing happened. The cops
on lbi have been sued plenty of times, they have had numerous complaints
filed, and it's about time that the residents of LBI take a stand!!!! this
is just one example, who else is sick of cops flying down the boulevard
in the truning lane at 60 mph, running red lights, with no sirens r any
other warnings of their speedy approach? I don't think that they should
have the supreme power they do have, and i think that WE the VICTIMS!!!,
should do domething... TO PROTECT AND SERVE, not to oppress and fine!!!!!!
cops need to have fun in the summer just like us!!! (and i don't mean the
fun they have a KUBELS at 10 in the morning)

Hello Everyone, I have alot of wonderful memories about LBI. But the
best is in 95 when i met Mike C. He turned out to be the turning point
in my life. For the first time i saw that i was someone special and deserved
great stuff from life. That summer i visited LBI and Mike 3 times and each
time i learned a little more about myself. I owe him a great deal. Anyway

I worked for the Surflight Theatre all this past summer of 1999. Even
though I worked 7 days a week from May until October, I still fell in love
with LBI. The people, the sights and the warmth of LBI made it home for
me for the 6 months that I was there. I had one of the most enjoyable summer's
of my life, and I can't wait until I can return to LBI, either to work,
or simply to visit!

i love this site and i love long beach island. It was funny i just

Our family has been going to LBI for over 20 years. We spent the whole
of September enjoying beautiful Harvey Cedars. All of our friends agree
that LBI is "magical." Now, as new owners, we explained to our grandchildren

Im just sitting here remembering all the fun times I have had on LBI..Im
27 now, but I have been going there since I was a year old. The best times
were with my cousins Mike & Matt, and our parents rented a place on
Central Ave in Barnegat Light...Even though we're all older now and dont
go on vacations together anymore...I still go down every summer. But those
were the best times ever! Just looking through the old photos with my cousin
tonite... Well, cant wait for the summer to come already again..I miss
LBI! Stayed down there 2 times this past summer with my family and boyfriend...It
was great!!

If you read my message on Oct. 21st then you will be happy to know
that I made it down to LBI one last time this year. I also got to see the
house my Grandfather built. I even picked up a few things that are special
to me. Luckily the house was not yet demolished. The currnet owner is preping
it for demolishion. If I knew a way to prevent that I would. Anyway, I
feel lucky to have made that last trip and see the house one last time.

I would do anything to get back to LBI. If you have gone to the lighthouse
then you drove my Family's home. It's was the Red and White house right
on Central Ave. 1005. My grandfather built this house on weekends when
the island was a swamp. He worked for Harbison's Milk in Phila. to pay
for it. He used to get teased b/c he wore his feet through his shoes before
buying a new pair. On weekends he and my grandmother would drive to LBI
2hrs to continue building. He had help from friends and family and built
his family the best house on the island. My grandmother Florence always
recieved comments for her beautiful flowers and wonderful lawn. When I
was a kid it felt like the size of a football field. We used to fish,clam,crab,
you name it. Our garvey was docked at the end of the block where anyone
can dock their boat for free LBI is something more to me than most, but
I don't know how to explain it. My Granfathers ashes are back in the bay
at Clam Island, where I am sure my fathers and my own will someday be.
I am writing this B/C my family had to sell the home this past Monday.
Too many people in the family. Some already have a shore home and don't
need another. I know all my cousins are very upset also. If one of us had
the money we would have bought it. I would give my left arm to keep it
in our family. The worst part of this story is; that a builder bought the
property. Our home will be knocked down probably by next summer, the home
my grandfather built. There is nothing I can do about that. I don't have
the money to buy the property back. If you drive to LBI in the next few
weeks just look at 1005 Central Ave. and remember that my Grandfather John
O. Plajer built that house for his family and they love that house.

Hello there to all my friends who may read this. How the Island has
changed in 35 years. Remember the Acme before it was the Ketch? Oh we had
some good times. Didn't we? How about the Bayview? There isn't a spare

grew up in nj spending two weeks every year in Beach Haven, typically
the best two weeks of the year. although i live in the mountains (colorado)
now, i still long for the beaches of LBI. this site helps me reconnect
(my boss wouldn't appreciate how much time i spend here) with a lot of
great memories of my youth. my folks just bought a house last year in Beach
Haven, so hopefully i'll renew LBI as a vacation destination every year.

My family and I visited LBI the 3rd week of August. We had a wonderful
time as always. I was finally talked into going on a fishing boat (you
guessed it, I got sick!) The water spout hit the end of the island the
night before we were to leave. The streets were all flooded. We had to
wade knee deep up the street to get back to our hotel. It was quite an
experience. Already I'm counting the days until we can come down again
next August.

I am beginning to plan our family vacation for summer 2000.I have never
been to LBI but friends have highly recommended it. We have vacationed
at Cape Cod(MA)and visited Martha's Vineyard. While we enjoyed those places,
it would be nice to vacation site that's not such a long drive away from
PA. I was wondering if anybody has been to both the Cape/Vineyard and Long
Beach Island. If so,how do the two places compare, particularly re: expenses,
activities(esp. family/children's),accomodations,atmosphere, etc.? If you

I've been looking at this site quite a bit in the past few days. I
really like it. I like to think that I grew up on LBI because I spent 4th
thru 10th grades there; mostly living in Surf City. I love your pictures
and the memories it brings back- I can practically smell the Bay and feel
myself walking the beach and swimming in the ocean. I Love LBI and after

Just got back from the best place on the earth..LBI..The weather was
gorgeous!! It was raining when we left, but its still so beautiful..had
a great time staying oceanfront at the Spray Beach Inn. I will stay there
when I am only coming down for a few days..other than that I get a house..my
boyfriend and I swam everyday in the pool..It was sooo warm! .I miss everything
already, espeically just standing on the beach breathing in the ocean air.
Just like my friend Cindy said here in the guestbook..someday I hope to
own a house here! Hey Cindy..maybe next year we'll get some drinks at the
Terrace Tavern again! (Ladies night out)..well hopefully I will be on LBI
soon again! LOVE IT SOO MUCH!!

We came to visit LBI, my husband, 4 yr. old daughter and I. Leaving
early left such a void, darn that Hurricane Floyd! BUT, we loved the beaches,
shops and food, it put us in a joyous mood.The island people were so grand,

Just returned from a week long vacation in LBI..Due to hurricane Dennis,we
had no beach days:( Thankfully LBI has some good restaurants & shops
to keep you busy..My fravorite eats were at Tuckers,Mud City crabhouse
in Manahawkin,Ship bottom shellfish...Bay Village Pizza had the best &
biggest slices!! The Elephant ears at the Crust & Crumb bakery were
great!! Country Kettle's fudge & their "chowda"(manhattan) were delicious!!
The best ice cream was at the Skipper Dipper and I enjoyed the Show Place,which
has the staff putting on singing skits while you eat your sundae..The 5
pounds that i gained during my vacation was well worth it!!!Take care -Rob

go..But what gets me a 'little bit mad' is the locals calling us summer
vacationers "shoobies" like they are annoyed we visit or something ..well
I have a few things to say..your island would not be what it is today if
it werent for us "shoobies" ok? So why dont you stop to think of you say
because half the places would not even be there..and if it werent for us
"shoobs" the island would be dead most of the time..and where would anyone
work in those "busy" summer months? I live near the Poconos and most of
"our" visitors come from guess where? NJ! To shop and ski..so next time
you visit somewhere..just think..you just might be a shoobie too! Well,
I just had to vent on this subject! And I will visit LBI as often as I

I have had shore houses all up and down the shore. Once in Belmar for
a summer, and now in Sea Isle. When I was a kid, we would vacation in Wildwood,
or take daytrips to Seaside or Pt. Pleasant. While these are great towns
(because there is no such thing as a bad shore town), they just don't compare
to LBI. Nothing does.

Long Beach Island of the 60's. So many memories. So many hangovers
in Britzs', Buckalous, the Riptide, the Acme, etc.. The Cramners, Spragues,
Baugh's, parties at Polly's Dock with Herman & friends. Just demonstrates
that time moves on & "you can't go back" when the crowd moves on. But
new crowds fill in the void & the partying goes on year after year.
I lived at 714 Jefferies Ave back then & have some GREAT memories of

Hey this site is pretty cool. The surf is awesome especially the past
few days. It feels like the middle of Spetember down here with the winds
and all, but the sun is still coming out some. Hope to get some more SnOw

being a Local, we get off of school early when the island floods or has

News about the tornado in LBI, beach haven: The 40minute storm had
extream winds up to 50mph smashed windows, had patio furniture flying and
even blew off 1/2 the roof of the Sea Spray Motel. The motel will be fixed,
back to normal and more sturdy than it was in May. It's a great motel,
i'm still going back!

Every year my Aunt takes my cousins and I to LBI. It's always great.
We've found a great motel years ago that we still stay at to this day.
Sea Spray in Beach Haven is great. Bay Village & Fantasy Island Amusment
park are minutes away, a marina down the street and the beach is right
acroos the street from the motel. We have a great time there every year.

Hello..Just got some bad news..I heard that the motel I am suppose
to stay at in Sept. got damaged by a tornado!! (Sea Spray)..Im bummed..is
it really bad? I called and got an answering machine..I am getting a refund

WE LOVE LBI!!!! Leavin' in the AM for one week of heavenly bliss. Surf
City here we come. We've only been to the Island on Columbus Day Weekend
for the St. Francis 18-miler. Jim (the dad) runs NYC and uses that race
as his prep. We're so looking forward to a week in the summer -- the ocean,
the fishing, the shopping and the restaurants. Bub-eye!!!

Went to LBI the first week of August. This was my first visit to the
island. My friend & her family have been going for years & now
I know why!!! LBI is the most relaxing place I've ever been. I had no idea
the beaches would be so beautiful. I love the "family" atmosphere. And
the fact that there are very few "chains" on the island. Already, I miss
Marvel's donuts (worth any wait in line), and the Holiday Snack Bar. Can't

I just got home from a trip to long Beach Island. I stayed In the best
place on the island, ship bottom. I stayed on 12th street for one week.

I can't wait to get back to Jersey! My family has a house in Barnegat
Light that we've owned for years. I used to spend the summers there in
college. That was the life. Beach all day, waitress at night and then out
to party till dawn! I'll be down there August 19th! I'm bringing all my
girlfriends from college. Can't wait! I have the boat ready and the suntan
lotion packed. LBI is truly heaven on Earth. As for the pizza it's Georges
Pizza in Surf City! Anyone who says otherwise is crazy. Also don't forget
about Subogies for turkey subs! For those of you that I still know on the
island, give a call would love to hear from you!

I have been coming to LBI for about 30 years or more, when I was a
little girl with my parents, and now with my own family. WE will be coming
down for a week this Saturday, and can't hardly wait!!!It is the closest

LBI is great!! I've stayed at the Buccaneer motel about 4 times now..This
year I'm going down with my parents and staying at the Drifting Sands(9th
st) from Aug 28th to Sept 4th..My parents go and do their own thing, so
i'm looking for some good spots to hang out at night..Someone mentioned
JoePops?? Any good?? Im m/23(single) If anyone is staying down in LBI this
week email me and maybe we can meet up somewhere..I'm also looking for
some good restaurants.Panzones is great!! What else is worth checking out??Well

This August will be my family's fourth year staying in long beach island.
Every year we rent a house, and stay for a week or so. The entire island
is filled with relaxation and fun. The beaches are great and the activities
that are available are amasing. We look forward to it every year.

I've been going to LBI with my family as long as i can remember, staying
at the same house in Barnegat Light for the past 17 years of my life. LBI
is one thing that i know will always be there for me the last 2 weeks in
August, and i love everything about it. I can't wait to get down there
on the 18th... play some miniture golf and just relax, forget Disney Land,
LBI is the happiest place on earth:)

Once again another fantastic vacation(7/31-8/1)We've been coming down
for 25 years and each year it gets better & better. This year we had
a guest form Beleast Northern Ireland with us. This was the first time

LBI is my favorite vacation place. Jellyfish are there. I suspect they'll
stick around, but just just swim around them. The water feels great. Go
to the chicken or the egg for breakfast, tuckers for lunch and get a boathouse
clambake to cook for dinner. You won't regret it!

Thanks for the info on Long Beach Island. Been renting a house at Harvey
Cedars for the past 30 + years and hope to continue. Raised our children
and grandchildren there. We all love to fish and crab at Barnaget Light
Bay area. Love the community concert area at Harvey Cedars....a real family
oriented area...hope it stays that way! Found a way to fight the weekend
in and out traffic on the causeway.....leave really early and eat breakfast
on the island!!!! Hope the jelly fish are gone!!

I grew up on LBI & my family still lives there. I just got back

and now i have more info. about it. LBI has lot's of things to do and
i have a lot of fun the waterslides are the best and i'm going in a few
weeks i'm looking forward to it. I'll have lot's more great memories. My
favorite stores are Ron Jons and the fudge shoppe. My favorite restaurant
is The Chicken and/or the egg. The cruises are great and the boats are
too. The fishing trips are fun. My favorite cruise boats are the Whitestar
and Miss LBI. when i was younger i got to go to the captains headquarters
and the captain gave me a Whitestar, hat i bring it to LBI every time i

We've only just begun to discover N.J., we've been visiting Bradley
Beach and other areas of interest for the last two years, and find it most
plesant. In your visitors guide we pick up at Bradley, I noticed the ads
