| LBI is the ultimate vacation spot! I have been vacationing
there since I was a little girl! My parents have been renting the same
beachfront house in Beach Haven for about 20 years!! My husband and I starting
dating when we were both on vacation with our families in 1991...so LBI
holds a special place in our hearts!! Nothing beats the beautiful sands
and quiet family atmoshere that LBI offers!!!!

It has the best beaches, great shops, nice people, and wonderful resturants. There are so many things to do there! I have so many memories there in Surf City where my family has rented the same house for 8 years. So many memories with my beach friends(you know who you are!) and lots of funny times(remember the Ravioli Fest?)! Three years ago, we finally bought a house in Pehala Park, right down the street from Skipper Dipper, which, by the way, has the best ice cream!!!! Unfortunately, we just closed the house up for the winter and we won't be down to LBI until the spring. I can't wait to be back down there! Of all the Jersey beaches, L.B.I. is my favorite. I had hoped to return for a week every summer but due to starting a new job (and starting all over again with vacation leave) I've been unable to. While we were there we took a boat cruise of the island admiring the million dollar houses in Loveladies, went to the Atlantic City casinos by bus, climbed to the top of the lighthouse, shopped at Hand's, and went deep sea fishing. Our cottage was located 11 houses from the beach, the bar was 2 blocks away, and the deli was at the end of the street. Talk about convenience! I'm anxious to return and will try to get away for a long weekend this summer. You've got a gem there, thanks for the memories. I go on the thundering surf and I go to Bay Village. The fudge is to die for. I think that the fudge girls are adorable. Fishing is great. The restaurants are great. My favorite restaurant is Tuckers. I love climbing Barnegat Light, especially at night. It is absolutely lovely becuase you are able to see the whole island. My grandparents own a house in Bract Beach, and it's the perfect get away in the summer. I have concerns though about children walking on the sand dunes that protect the beaches. Either the lifegurds should look around and enforece it more often, or there needs top be a fine that is givin to those who cannot correctly watch their child while on the beach. These dunes save the houses from storms, and I really do not want to have to worry about not having my house after a hurrican or something because kids took away the sand dunes. The waves break slow and have little barriels. When it gets big its no joke. When people ask me all i tell them about are spots like holyoke, 9th street ship bottom, or the wooden jetti. We lived for the weekends, sitting on the deck, biking along Beach Ave., happy hr. at Kubel's... Four of us were working a block away from the WTC on the 11th of Sept., and we all came away shell shocked and without direction... I called our realtor, explained that we wanted the house back, if possible, in Sept. Our realtor and landlord bent over backwards for us--they have our UNDYING THANKS--and so we were able to spend a quiet, relaxing 10 days in the place we've grown to love so much... The compassion and care that we experienced, from everyone at Kubel's, Joey's Pizza, and everyone else on the island will never be forgotten. We love LBI--the people, the beaches, the sense of community--and we'll be returning year after year to prove it... It is a gorgeous place and I love it lots. Anyone who thinks the Jersey shore is "dirty" is just plain wrong! Thanks to former Governor Christie Todd Whitman it is now cleaner than ever! I have talked to people who think that places like Ocean City, MD or Rehoboth Beach, DE are SO much better. I have been to those places and LBI has nicer less crowded beaches! I personally hated Ocean City, MD. Rehoboth Beach is nicer because it's not real tacky and the boardwalk is small and tame looking (nothing like the Wildwood boardwalk!) I have visited many beaches along the MD, DE, and NJ coasts, and LBI still beats them all!!! My only suggestion for the Island (and I am sure most people will be outraged by this), but a small boardwalk would be cool! You know it would be tasteful in a place like LBI! It wouldn't have to be long...just a mile or less...it would be beautiful on LBI! It could have an upscale policy. Nothing tacky! Well I hope I didn't offend anyone too much, but if I did, no apology! It's a good idea! NJ shore and LBI ROCK!!!
